Getting to Know My Lord

It's been so long since I've written and so much has happened!

I have loved being here in Jacksonville, getting to know the students and staff at the YWAM base. Everyone has been so amazing and I appreciate and love them so much! There's a unity here that's so unique :)

I have 5 roommates in one large room. It's been a little crazy and we all have very different personalities, but we get along really well. All of us have had a chance to minister to each other and pour love into each other. When we are being stretched in class or in quiet time, all of us are able to support one another.

I also have the chance to share what God is doing in my life with Courtney, one of the women on staff here. All the students have one-on-one time with one of the staff and Courtney is the one I get to hang out with! We are the same age and it's fun to get to know her as well as process what God is doing here.

So what is God doing?

SO MUCH! In the beginning of the DTS a huge theme for me was trusting God. It was really hard for me to have no money raised for the DTS when we started. I felt so helpless seeing nothing in my account and not knowing where the money would come from and when it would come. It's still a little hard, but I have definitely grown in my trust in God! He is going to come through. I've done what I can, I just have to put it all in God's hands. It's funny that when I think I truly trust God, and something comes along that tests that trust. Am I really trusting Him?

I'm also learning to have a more intimate relationship with God. You see, someone can know theology and have scriptures memorized, but not really know God at all. I know about Brad Pitt, Obama, and others, but I don't really KNOW them. It's been amazing to listen to God and learn His heart for the nations. It's amazing to intercede for others and get to know God's heart for them. Intercession is really about aligning my heart with God's. Learning to intercede and hear God's voice has really caused me to refocus my attention on getting to know who God is.

I am so appreciative of everyone who has supported me, financially and otherwise. You truly are a part of the Great Commission!!

Sharing Freedom

This DTS has been incredible. I've made some amazing friends, grown exponentially in my walk with God, and had an all around amazing time. The week on the Holy Spirit a couple weeks ago was one of my favorite weeks. It was the last week of lecture with a speaker from outside our base. I thought I'd seen and done everything involving the Holy Spirit, which of course was very wrong. God really encountered me and told me to focus on Him instead of my past and what I've done. My knowledge of Him has gone from just knowing about Him to really knowing Him and His heart. That was something that God taught me all throughout this DTS. So now it's off to Asia!! The first part of DTS is done and now it's time to go and spread the joy and the freedom we've received. God has set us free from our past, taught us how to hear Him, and given us more revelation of His heart. The End of the Beginning

On Monday night I got back from my first adventure as an outreach leader for the Discipleship Training School in Jax Beach. I spent 2 months traveling overseas with 6 students and one other leader, sharing the good news of Jesus. We spent the first 5 weeks in Taiwan (see last post), and the last 3 weeks in China. I wish I could tell you all of the stories, but I would be typing on the computer for days. It's hard to really come up with how to express this trip, the emotions I felt and the things I saw. In Taiwan we had the opportunity to work with YWAM. It was great to be able to work with another base and see what God is doing there. Taiwan is a place where you can openly share the Gospel, but it is still a very small percent Christian. There is a darkness and heaviness there because there is still a lot of ancestor worship. People even have shrines and altars set up in their homes. They will burn "money" to their ancestors because they believe they need it. Many do it...
